Over the last few years, Barcelona have done incredibly well to improve their financial situation, which had once looked very precarious. They are not yet back to normal, although things are looking as good as they have been for the best part of a decade.
The good work done by Joan Laporta and his board of directors, especially sporting director Deco, cannot be overstated. As recent as the 2021-22 season, Barcelona were in a huge deficit for their salary cap, and while this made signing new players incredibly difficult, they have managed to drastically improve the squad, while also fixing the finances.
La Liga have now released the new salary caps for all 20 clubs in the top division, and it has served to underline the turnaround in Barcelona’s situation over the last few years. As per [MD](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260910/1004225711/barca-pasa-432-millones-limite-salarial-582.html), the Catalans’ new limit is €582m, which is an increase of €150m from the €432m that the club had at their disposal during the 2025-26 campaign.
Upon the new salary limits being revealed, La Liga president Javier Tebas explained why Barcelona’s cap has increased.
**“I often read that Barcelona has I don’t know how many millions of debt. The important thing is also the income and the ability you have to pay the debt. We have to look at that situation well. Barcelona is with a billion in revenue. They have the capacity to pay and to improve conditions.”**
The increase in Barcelona’s salary limit has coincided with their return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule in the summer, which allowed them to sign the likes of Anthony Gordon, Rodri and Joao Cancelo with relative ease.
