For our Opposition View feature, we head behind enemy lines to see what supporters of Everton’s next opponents are saying ahead of the game.
This weekend, it’s Tottenham Hotspur who stand between the Blues and another Premier League result, with David Moyes’ side heading to north London for Saturday’s televised 5.30pm kick-off.
With Spurs still searching for not only their first league win of the season, but their first goal of the seasson, you might expect some nerves among their supporters.
You’d be wrong.
Over on The Fighting Cock forum, confidence is pretty high that Everton will provide the perfect opportunity for Tottenham to get their campaign up and running.
In fact, some Spurs fans appear to regard the fixture as little more than a guaranteed three points.
Starks pointed to Tottenham’s impressive record in this fixture at home:
They’ve beaten us just once in our last 17 meetings at home in the league. This fixture, even at our worst, has always been favourable and they always seem to bend over. Weve gotten gradually better over the three league games, I think we get our first win here. Early goal and go on to win 3-0.
That confidence was shared by nicoclaesen, who was even more dismissive of Everton:
They are utter garbage. Easiest game of the season for us and the usual 3 points against them. This will be our kickstart game.
There was a recurring theme among the comments that this could be the game that finally kickstarts Tottenham’s season.
Sir Ledders simply said:
This will kick start our season.
Soundwave was similarly bullish:
I think we’ll beat them. They’re s***e
Steve73 believes the improvement in Spurs’ performances will finally translate into points:
Fancy us big time, performances are improving, results will follow especially against this lot
Hampshire Spur also sees little reason for Tottenham not to take all three points:
Have to be honest, I just see Everton littered with solid bang average players. 3 points a must Saturday.
Richard Splash went back to the historical record between the two clubs:
We always beat Everton and therefore have to win this one. I think we will.
LLB Part Deux believes Tottenham’s recent performances have been heading in the right direction, while also pointing out that they have managed to beat Everton when playing poorly:
We were broadly the better team for the last couple of matches, and it looked like the players were starting to understand the passing and movement required. But, more importantly, we beat Everton even when we are total dogs**t.
There was at least one Spurs fan who appeared more concerned about their own side than Everton.

I’m most worried about this one in terms of if we can score a goal or not. If we can’t score against Everton, it is a very, very bad sign for us.
Distate for scouse was expecting Spurs to finally get their first three points:
Fancy us to rack up our first three points. Everton are toothless up front and we usually beat them.
There was, however, one note of caution from Spaniel, who gave Everton’s attacking players a little more credit:
George and Barry are going to be a handful…Grealish is no slouch and they’re happy to shoot from outside the box. Hopefully we’ll win but I’d settle for a draw…
For the most part, Everton appear to have been identified as the ideal opposition for Spurs to finally get their season going.
Let’s hope they’re wrong.
