Chelsea have been left waiting for the transfer window to open again to address their midfield woes, with Xabi Alonso currently short on options.
Enzo Fernandez’s long-awaited move to Manchester City was only completed on deadline day, giving the Blues not enough time to secure the signing of Lamine Camara from Monaco.
They are currently struggling due to the injury of Moises Caicedo though, with the likes of Reece James and Malo Gusto being used in the position as emergency options.
Potentially. Should mean less running and he could still use his passing ability to create chances. Possibly a bit on the small side but wherever he feels comfortable
Chelsea believe Manu Kone is perfect for Xabi Alonso’s style of play
Chelsea still have a long list of targets from the previous transfer window, with one of those being Roma’s Manu Kone. It was even reported the Blues were close to a deadline day deal to sign Kone, but couldn’t get it done.
After a strong start to the season with Roma, Chelsea scouts have continued to be impressed by the midfielder, with Flashscore stating that they think he would suit Alonso’s style perfectly.
The 25-year-old is known for his physicality, something the Blues are lacking with the likes of Romeo Lavia and Valentin Barco, who are more technical players.
Chelsea looked to add height and strength to their first team squad throughout the rest of the window. Maxence Lacroix, Morgan Rogers and Marco Palestra are amongst those who fit that bill.

Jamie Gittens could help Chelsea sign Kone
Signing one of Roma’s key players is never going to be easy, however the Serie A squad showed interest in bringing in a player from Stamford Bridge over the summer.
Jamie Gittens was linked with a move to Italy, and although a deal never progressed, his current situation at Chelsea may make the deal more feasible in the future.
The youngster is a long way off the starting side in West London, with Rogers enjoying a fantastic start since his club-record move.
Gittens failed to take his chance in the EFL Cup against Leeds, and it looks as if it will be a while before he is given another opportunity by Alonso.
