Alexander Isak has reflected on his “challenging” year at Liverpool so far, with the striker “in a good place” after a frustrating struggle for fitness in 2025/26.
Isak has already found impressive form as his second season at Liverpool begins, scoring three goals in four games including a brace last time out in the Premier League.
More importantly, though, the No. 9 has now started 12 games in a row for club and country – his longest run since May 2025 – including his three appearances in pre-season.
After two full 90s at the World Cup, Isak has also played the entire game in two of his four appearances for Liverpool this term – and 92.2 percent of his available minutes.
Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the visit of Fulham on Saturday, the striker reflected on his return to fitness.

“Firstly, really good that the season has started again – obviously you miss it being away,” Isak said.
“I’m feeling good with the pre-season and the start of the season as well, scoring a couple of goals. It’s just about keeping this rhythm.
“[The way I played against Ipswich] is how I want to play and that’s how I want to score goals. I was certainly happy with that.
“But as I said, it’s early days and I’ve got to keep going.
“I feel good, I feel like I’m in a good place. With the team as well, we’re getting better and better. We want to keep this rhythm.”

Having trained individually last summer as he forced through his £125 million move from Newcastle, Isak joined Liverpool desperately short of fitness and his body suffered as a result.
The broken leg sustained while scoring in the 2-1 win away to Tottenham in December was, however, particularly unfortunate and clearly avoidable.
“It has been challenging of course, with a lot of injuries especially,” Isak continued.
“But there have been some beautiful moments as well, good learning moments.
“I take all of that as stuff to help me get better and get stronger, not looking back too much and just focusing on what’s ahead.”

Isak credited his attitude in recovery to the support of the Liverpool fans, adding: “It means a lot.
“I was really excited about coming here and being a part of that relationship between the club and the players and the fans.
“You can really feel that. It’s really something valuable.
“It’s brilliant support all the time, even during difficult times for the team. They have been brilliant so far as long as I’ve been here.”
