Hull City has confirmed that Sorba Thomas is "unharmed" after being involved in a road traffic collision on Friday morning.

Images surfaced on social media showing the Premier League player's vehicle overturned on its roof close to the Tigers' training facility. The club has now issued a statement, confirming that the 27 year old emerged from the incident without injury.

They stated on their official website: "Hull City is relieved to confirm that Sorba Thomas is unharmed following a road traffic accident near to the club's Cottingham training ground.

"The club is aware of images of Sorba's car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed."

Emergency services personnel were also photographed attending the scene. The collision occurred on Millhouse Wood Lane, situated near Hull City's training complex.

Thomas joined the Tigers from Stoke City for an undisclosed sum - believed to be approximately £10.5million - on transfer deadline day. He has subsequently featured twice for the side.

Thomas came off the substitutes' bench during the club's scoreless stalemate with Aston Villa at home earlier this month, before earning his maiden first-team start against Sunderland AFC in the Carabao Cup earlier this week.

The Tigers were knocked out of the competition at the Stadium of Light following a 1-0 defeat, with Chemsdine Talbi netting the decisive goal for the Black Cats, reports the Express.

While it remains unclear whether Thomas will feature following Friday's incident, Hull now turn their attention to a Premier League encounter with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - scheduled for 3pm BST on Saturday.

Sergej Jakirovic has performed miracles with the English top flight's newcomers so far, maintaining an unbeaten league record courtesy of their stalemate with Villa and triumphs over Manchester United and Coventry City.

Jakirovic also discussed Thomas during his pre-match press conference on Thursday. He said: "I don't have any doubt about Sorba because he made a difference in the Championship.

"He is a left winger and we can use him inside like a left (sided) No 10. He knows football. He is very good in delivery and his end product is good. Also, he has very good set-pieces.

"He is sharp and has speed. Also, in defence, he is very responsible. I think he suits us a lot. Like always, I hope he can help us."
