Will Iroegbunam make his Hull City debut against Chelsea? Jakirovic delivers fitness update

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has provided an update on the fitness of Nigerian-eligible midfielder Tim Iroegbunam ahead of the Premier League clash against Chelsea.

Iroegbunam joined the Tigers from Everton during the summer transfer window but is yet to make his debut for the newly promoted club due to an injury.

Despite returning to training, the midfielder was not involved in the games against Aston Villa and Sunderland in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference, Jakirovic confirmed that Iroegbunam is now fit and available for selection against the Blues.

"Tim trained normally today," Jakirovic was quoted as saying by Hull Daily Mail.

"That was the plan that he stayed at home, that he do a good session. It's about fitness and today he is good so he is available."

He explained that Everton had shared the player's GPS data after the injury and before his move, adding that the additional training was part of his recovery and fitness plan.

"He had the injury and Everton sent us the GPS after the injury, we saw there was not so many kilometres so we have to push there. After the injury this is normal. It's everything by the plan," he concluded.

Before moving to the MKM Stadium, Iroegbunam enjoyed a decent campaign in his final season with the Toffees, making 29 league appearances and providing three assists.

Ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge, the Super Eagles-eligible midfielder will be hoping to feature and make his debut for the Tigers.
