Chelsea wingback Marco Palestra has still not taken part in a full team training session, according to the Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill.

Posting on his X account, Gill said that the Italian international has been doing one-on-one coaching with a fitness trainer at Cobham:

“Marco Palestra update. Was this week doing individual training with one of Xabi Alonso’s coaches at Cobham. Precursor to participating in Chelsea’s main sessions. Getting there.”

While Alonso may say otherwise in his pre-match conference, the fact that Palestra is still not training with the rest of his squad suggests he will be absent once more for the game against Hull City this weekend.

The Chelsea summer signing has still not made his debut

Palestra impressed with his performances in pre-season, but he has not played a competitive game for the Blues since his move from Atalanta at the start of July.

The 21-year-old has been ruled out for the three Premier League fixtures against Fulham, Brighton and Arsenal, as well as the Carabao Cup ties versus Luton and Leeds.

Palestra gave an optimistic update about his fitness last week, stating that he is “days” away from making his comeback, but it appears there is still one further stage to go in his rehabilitation.

Other Chelsea injury news

Levi Colwill appears to be carrying a knock. The centre-back walked straight down the tunnel after being substituted against Leeds on Wednesday, but Alonso has played down suggestions that the centre-back has sustained a serious injury.

Moises Caicedo has a troublesome calf problem, which is taking longer than hoped to heal, while Jordan Henderson (wrist) and Emmanuel Emegha (muscular) are lacking fitness.
