**Xabi Alonso** admitted that **Chelsea** is working to find the right balance between defence and attack.
The Blues have been one of the more entertaining sides in England so far this season, having scored 16 goals and conceded 10.
Last time out in the Premier League, their free-flowing attack was halted as Alonso fell to his first defeat as manager at the hands of his friend Mikel Arteta and the Champions Arsenal.
Alonso admitted that Chelsea still had things to improve on in attack, but also stated the importance of finding a balance

_“This is the focus, this is the process that we want: to be more competitive, to be as good or even better in attack, because I think there is room for improvement, and to have the balance to feel solid and strong in defence._
_We don't want to concede that many goals, and that's the work of everyone, from the strikers to the goalkeeper.”_

Across the opening three Premier League games, Chelsea have had the second-lowest average possession of any side (36.5%), with this weekend’s opponents, Hull City, only ranking worse.
When asked whether it was based on game state or a more intentional tactical approach, Alonso stated that the Blues were still working on improving many areas of their game.
_“I like to have the mindset to adapt, to compete, to be clear that it's going to be a hard game, and the context of each game is different._
_“We have scored so early in all the games. We will have to change our approach to the game for sure._
_“But knowing that we are in the process of many things, I think that we are still in the early days to know what this thing is for sure going to be._
_“I think that we will develop many things when important players join and can play._
_“So we're having this feeling that we're competing well, but there are some things that we can do better for sure.”_
