Renato Gonçalves Renato Goncalves is the deputy manager of Barca Blaugranes and has been writing for the site since all the way back in 2014. He’s a massive sports fan and has been crazy about Barcelona ever since Rivaldo scored that bicycle kick in 2001.
Anthony Gordon is off to a very good start to life at Barcelona since making the switch from Newcastle in the summer, with Barça spending big money to bring the English international to Catalunya.
Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco chose Gordon over another English international in Marcus Rashford, who had a very productive season on loan but couldn’t complete his dream permanent move to Camp Nou as Barça decided not to activate a €30 million buy in the deal with Manchester United.
Deco explained why Barça picked Gordon over Rashford despite the bigger investment, saying Rashford “contributed a lot last season, but our idea of play is much more linked to Anthony. His style fits with what the coach is looking for.”
Gordon’s start certainly justifies the choice of the coach and the sporting director, but Anthony still has ways to go to match Rashford’s impressive 14 goal, 15 assist tally from last season.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Did Barcelona make the right call choosing Anthony Gordon over Marcus Rashford?
