Liverpool are interested in making Michael Olise their marquee signing for 2027, but they are not likely to be given that chance in January.
Bayern Munich want to insert a release clause into a new contract for Olise, Christian Falk reported last week, before later adding that this could be beneficial for Liverpool, who would be able to skip long, arduous talks to get their man. Obviously that depends heavily on the kind of fee that the Bavarians would name in this hypothetical contract.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen then refused to make any guarantees over Olise’s long-term future at the Bundesliga club, telling journalists that such promises in football are “risky.”

Falk then reported that Bradley Barcola was a player they would have replaced Olise with, so his move to Liverpool has made it even harder for Bayern to accept the idea of selling Olise. This opened up a debate over whether they still want to sign Cody Gakpo and if they’d accept him as makeweight in a player-plus-cash transfer.
Reporting today on his website, Falk says that there is no truth to stories that Bayern would allow Olise to leave the club during the January transfer window.
Falk said: “It is NOT TRUE: Bayern would consider selling Michael Olise in January if the right offer came in.
“There is absolutely no chance of selling the Frenchman in the January transfer window.
“Bayern are not a club that normally deals in the winter; they won’t sell any players they need for their season.
“They want to win the Champions League this year.
“So, there’ll be no amount where Bayern could be persuaded into parting ways with Olise early.
“The former Crystal Palace man will play for Bayern Munich for sure this season and there’s no chance to get him.
“Not for Real Madrid, PSG or any Premier League club.
“He will stay put.”
Signing Olise remains a dream for now
Until there are concrete reports that Liverpool are actively exploring a deal to bring Olise to Anfield, it will remain a dream.
For now, anyway, Liverpool have an incredible attack with plenty of room to grow into a devastating unit. The Reds are also expecting Hugo Ekitike back from injury before the end of the year, which will further increase Andoni Iraola’s attacking firepower.
It should be a bigger priority for Liverpool to sign a new central midfielder and a right-back in the January transfer window. Attacking signings can wait until next summer, when Olise would be somewhat attainable.
