It has been another busy day ofEverton news, with David Moyes providing plenty to talk about ahead of Saturday evening’s trip to Tottenham.
Jack Grealish is ready to play, Christian Nørgaard remains out, and Moyes has admitted his squad is smaller than he would ideally like. There was also another award for Jordan Pickford as attention turns towards north London.
Grealish ready for Tottenham
The most eye-catching line from Moyes concerned Grealish, who is still waiting for his first Everton start since joining on loan.
“I think Jack is ready to play,” said Moyes. “I think he is a boy who needs a football more than training.”
Moyes also described the prospect of Grealish reproducing last season’s form as “incredibly exciting”, although he stopped short of confirming the winger will start against Spurs.
Nørgaard wait goes on
There was less encouraging news on Nørgaard, who remains unavailable and will miss the Tottenham game.
“We expected him to be on the grass by now,” admitted Moyes, who acknowledged the midfielder’s absence has lasted longer than initially expected. Everton hope the Denmark international will become available after the international break.

Moyes wanted a bigger squad
Moyes also admitted his squad is smaller than he would ideally like following the summer transfer window.
The Everton manager revealed that 21 or 22 outfield players would be his preferred number, although he believes there can be benefits to working with a smaller, tight-knit group. He also raised the free-agent market again, but there was little indication that a signing is imminent.
Another one for Pickford
Jordan Pickford’s superb save against Crystal Palace has won the Premier League’s Save of the Month award for August.
It is familiar territory for the England goalkeeper, who had already won the monthly award four times before this season and collected the Premier League’s Save of the Season prize in 2025/26. Everton’s social media response was rather more concise: “Another one. ☝️🏆”

Spurs have taken one point from their opening three league matches despite spending more than £300m this summer, while Moyes’ Everton remain unbeaten.
