Round 2 of the Blazer’s Edge Best Things Ever Tournament continues today with one heck of a matchup. If you’re not caught up on the proceedings, we started with 64 mostly-random good things in life, sorted into a March Madness style bracket. From those 64, we will elect one grand winner as the Best Thing Ever for 2026. It’s our way of keeping a little fun conversation going (in addition to our other coverage) while the dog days of the NBA offseason drift by.
Participating is simple. Each post offers a choice between two good things. Read about them, then pick one to vote for. Register your opinion (and any explanations you want) in the comments section. The winners of the Round 2 matchups will go onward to the Sweet Sixteen!
The items in this post both had good showings in Round 1, but now they’re face-to-face. You get to choose between **Santa** and **Sunscreen**.
Who doesn’t love the jolly old elf who brings presents to all the good little kids (and probably some Lakers fans too) each Christmas? He’s a symbol of love, peace, joy, and generosity. Songs, animated specials, decorations…Santa is one of the most fun parts of a great season! Besides, y’all owe him for those bicycles and doll houses back in the day, right?
On the other hand…sunscreen. Maybe if we had kept the ozone layer intact it wouldn’t be quite so important, but it can really save your bacon (as opposed to making it sizzle) on those hot summer days!
