Premier League great Alan Shearer has now predicted how Spurs will fare against a confident Everton side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. He feels both sides have got their fair shares of weaknesses, making it difficult to predict the outcome of the game. As a result, the English pundit has gone for a stalemate.
“It was a brilliant strike from Maitland-Niles, and a good comeback for Everton against Man United last week. Clearly it doesn’t take away the issues they’ve got in terms of their forward positions and the numbers that they’ve got in the squad. But that was a big point for them last week against Manchester United. Spurs are desperate to get a win and score goals. It’s a tough one to call this one. I’m gonna go for a draw,” Alan Shearer wrote in his column for The Metro.
Must-win game for De Zerbi
Spurs’ lack of threat in front of goal will be a major concern for De Zerbi, but the Italian may have the opportunity to tweak his frontline for the visit of the Toffees. He will have to do it without four players, who have been ruled out of the game.
Deadline day signing Mykhailo Mudryk has been ruled out for several weeks with an ankle injury, but James Maddison is back and available for selection. The return of Maddison from a shoulder injury is a big lift for the Lilywhites, who have been bereft of creativity and invention in the final third.
