Pedro Neto has signed a new long-term Chelsea contract after rejecting interest from Manchester City during the summer.
The Portugal international has been rewarded for his growing importance under Xabi Alonso and is now tied to the Blues until 2032.
The Guardian reports that Chelsea handed Neto the new deal after he decided to remain at Stamford Bridge despite interest from Manchester City.
The agreement is understood to be for five years with the option of a further season.
It represents a significant show of faith in a player who has quickly become an important part of Alonso’s plans.

Pedro Neto rewarded by Chelsea
Neto has scored twice across Chelsea’s opening five matches of the campaign and has been used in several roles by Alonso.
His ability to operate further forward or from wing-back has given Chelsea additional flexibility on the right.
That importance was apparent again during Wednesday’s remarkable Carabao Cup victory over Leeds United.
Neto was introduced at half-time as Alonso made four changes, with ReadChelsea’s report from Chelsea’s 6-3 win detailing how the senior players transformed the contest.
He went on to score as Chelsea overturned a two-goal deficit.
Manchester City had considered Neto during the summer as they looked at options to strengthen their attack.
However, the 26-year-old remained at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea have now moved to reward that commitment.
L’Equipe also reports that Neto’s new agreement keeps him at Chelsea until 2032.
He joins several important members of Alonso’s squad to receive improved terms as Chelsea continue securing the futures of their core players.
Attention now turns back to the Premier League.
Neto is expected to be heavily involved when Hull City visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with ReadChelsea’s predicted Chelsea XI including him in Alonso’s starting side.
His new contract ensures that whatever role Alonso ultimately settles on, Chelsea intend Neto to occupy it for years to come.
