Ronald Araujo has wasted absolutely no time at all since joining Liverpool, quickly making himself a fan favorite after just two matches in the team.

The defender joined on loan from Barcelona in the summer, after head coach Hansi Flick made it clear that he would be receiving a reduction in opportunities moving forward. It took just a matter of days between that and the Uruguayan international ending up at Anfield, as sporting director Richard Hughes pounced to sign a low-cost option who could help solve some depth issues in key positions.

While he is a center-back by trade, Araujo could help provide some cover at right-back too, which is a position that he has been thrown into almost immediately.

Considering the problems that Liverpool has had on that side over the past year, some impressive displays against Ipswich and Atletico Madrid have already got the fanbase on side.

Not only has Araujo brought a solid presence to the flank defensively, but his relentless effort, work rate, and moments of inspiration have proven to be a hit.

That has already led to some talk about a possible permanent deal for the star next summer, but it seems as though any move would be determined by a key factor.

According to TeamTalk, the defender will only consider a permanent exit from Barcelona next summer if Flick makes it clear that he is not wanted back at the club, which would then bring about the possibility of joining Liverpool again.

Araujo had never planned to leave Barcelona until the manager discussed his prospects for the rest of the season, with a similar plan seemingly lined up again next summer, in case the stance changes.

The 27-year-old is said to have a permanent deal clause in his loan with Liverpool, set at roughly $64 million, which could allow the Reds to trigger the option to bring him in without any negotiations.

It's added that the Merseyside outfit is delighted with the start that the star has made, with talks planned for after the turn of the year to determine his situation.

However, the player's stance in this will be crucial, and it remains to be seen what he will choose to do. For now, though, it is early days and there is no clear indication whether the Reds will decide to keep him, considering there are many more matches to come and tougher tests awaiting them.

It remains to be seen whether the defender will still be a fan favorite by the time a decision has to be made, but for now, he will be looking to ride that momentum to keep up his performance levels.
