Chelsea return to Premier League action against Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon looking to respond to last weekend’s defeat at Arsenal.
Xabi Alonso’s side have since produced a remarkable 6-3 Carabao Cup comeback against Leeds United, taking their tally to 16 goals across their opening five competitive matches.
Hull present a very different challenge.
The newly-promoted Tigers sit one point above Chelsea after taking seven points from their opening three Premier League games and are the only side in the division yet to concede.

Chelsea vs Hull team news
Chelsea will again be without Moises Caicedo.
Xabi Alonso confirmed on Friday that the Ecuador international is not ready to return, with next week’s trip to Brentford now a possible target.
The latest Chelsea team-news update also confirms Marco Palestra, Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha remain unavailable.
Romeo Lavia is available after being rested for Wednesday’s cup victory over Leeds as part of his workload management.
That makes Lavia the leading candidate to partner Reece James in midfield.
Levi Colwill is also available after returning against Leeds, while Wesley Fofana should come back into consideration after being rested in midweek.
Alonso is expected to restore most of his senior attacking players.
Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Pedro Neto all came off the bench against Leeds and changed the game, while Joao Pedro was given the night off.

Hull’s perfect defensive record faces biggest test
Hull have made an outstanding start following promotion.
They beat Manchester United 2-0 on the opening weekend, won 1-0 at Coventry City and then held Aston Villa to a goalless draw.
Jakirovic’s side allowed Villa only one shot on target despite having just 26.5 per cent possession.
The contrast with Chelsea is stark.
Chelsea became the first team in Premier League history to score inside the opening five minutes of each of their first three matches of a season.
Joao Pedro struck after 31 seconds against Fulham, Lavia scored inside four minutes against Brighton and Rogers needed only 77 seconds to put Chelsea ahead at Arsenal.
That explosive attacking ability has come with defensive problems, though.
Alonso has already admitted Chelsea need greater balance after another chaotic performance against Leeds.
Hull are likely to test whether Chelsea can dominate without allowing the contest to become stretched.
Key battle: Cole Palmer against Hull’s low block
Cole Palmer could become the most important player on the pitch.
Hull have shown they are comfortable defending deep and spending long periods without possession.
That makes Palmer’s ability to find pockets between midfield and defence particularly valuable.
The Chelsea forward also has an excellent record against promoted opposition.
Chelsea’s official statistics show Palmer has produced 15 Premier League goal involvements in 15 matches against newly-promoted teams.
He also enters Saturday one short of 50 Premier League goals for Chelsea.

Hull will need to prevent those two receiving the ball in dangerous central areas.

History heavily favours the Blues.
Chelsea have won their last nine meetings with Hull in all competitions and remain unbeaten across all 10 Premier League encounters.
The Tigers have also never won at Stamford Bridge.
Their current form means those records should not encourage complacency, but Alonso’s side remain strong favourites.

Hull’s defensive start deserves respect, particularly given how difficult Aston Villa found it to create chances.
Chelsea possess considerably more attacking variety, however.
Palmer, Rogers, Neto and Joao Pedro should all return fresh after their midweek minutes were carefully managed.
The absence of Caicedo remains a concern when Chelsea lose possession, but Lavia’s return should help provide more control.
Hull may frustrate Chelsea for long periods, but the hosts should eventually find a way through.
