Philadelphia Eagles: Reveal Fate of Pro Bowl Newcomer for Week 1 1

Philadelphia Eagles EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard suffered a pectoral injury while lifting weights ahead of training camp. As a result, Greenard missed training camp and the preseason, but the Eagles activated him from the PUP list during roster cuts rather than leaving him there and missing the first four games of the season. The Pro Bowler returned to practice on Wednesday and was limited this week. On Thursday, he was unsure whether he would play in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders.

“They haven’t told me anything,” Greenard said, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I just know I’ve been getting right, going through the motions of just trying to get back into the swing of things before I get fully thrown out there. But it’s something every day. So I just listen to them. I trust their judgment.

“I’m literally just trying to work day by day. Like, I literally am out there every second trying to just show what I can do. And that’s tough for them (to make a decision), but I feel pretty solid. … It’s not for me to decide. I feel good, though. I will say I feel I’m in a good spot. I know that I’m working every day to continue to try to get this thing stronger. We’re close. I know that.”

According to an X account, Underdog NFL, the Eagles have ruled out Jonathan Greenard. As result, Philadelphia is expected to roll with Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. as the two starters and Arnold Ebiketie and A.J. Epenesa as the backups. The front office is smartly prioritizing Greenard’s long-term health rather than rushing him back.
