Why Should Browns Fans Be Excited After the Rams' Latest Disaster? 1

The Cleveland Browns fans have a decent reason to be the NFL’s least optimistic fanbase, according to a poll from The Athletic. As things stand, they’d pull an upset by making the playoffs or even registering close to a .500 winning percentage.

There are clearly plenty of question marks surrounding the team ahead of the new season. However, amid the pessimism that surrounds the side, the Los Angeles Rams’ latest disastrous showing might just offer the Browns’ fanbase a glimmer of hope.

Rams’ Recent Disaster-Class Could Provide Optimism for the Browns

According to The Athletic’s Adam Coleman, a poll of all NFL teams showed the Browns fanbase was the most pessimistic about their franchise’s chances. And they have good reason to think so. However, retired NFL veteran Breiden Fehoko thinks the Browns have some good grounds to be hopeful after the Los Angeles Rams’ underwhelming 7-27 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last night. Fehoko shared his thoughts via his X handle.

Browns fans you should be excited after last nights Rams game. It’s a great time to be a Cleveland fan.

– Browns won the Myles Garrett trade

– You are another Matthew Stafford QB sneak away from locking up a top 5 pick

– You’re playing with house money this year

– Mensah 👀

It should come as no surprise that Browns fans are the least optimistic in the league. However, there are still some things worth being optimistic about. First, they got Jared Verse, a young, bright edge-rusher who was the 2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year during the Myles Garrett trade.

Then, they have a decent slew of offensive weapons in Quinshon Judkins, Harold Fannin Jr., Denzel Boston, and KC Concepcion. If they can spot a franchise QB and improve the offensive line a little more, this offense could become more competitive.

Jared Verse, Tyson Campbell, Mason Graham, Emmanuel McNeill-Warren, and Carson Schwesinger are key defensive pieces who should linger around awhile. Moreover, Denzel Ward recently signed a two-year extension.

The Browns also boast two first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, a sign that points to a potential success route in the near future. Yet, concerns abound about how dreary the 2026 season could be.

As if to console the doubts surrounding the new season, the Rams suffered massively last night to the 49ers by 20 points. Meanwhile, the last time the Rams lost by double digits was on November 24, 2024, against the Philadelphia Eagles. That match saw Saquon Barkley put up 255 rushing yards and 302 total yards and set Philly’s single-game record for both in a 37-20 win.

While the Browns’ fanbase may have all the legitimate reasons to be the least optimistic, should Browns fans be the least optimistic in the league, there are traces of reasons to believe for the future. What isn’t certain, however, is whether their fortunes will mature in 2026 or whether the rebuild will take at least a year before materializing. Besides, who knows how many shockingly underwhelming performances await other teams like the Rams across the season?
