An up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is on the verge of penning a new long-term contract with the club. The Blaugrana starlet in question? Brian Fariñas.
Young midfielder Fariñas spent this past summer carving out a place for himself in the senior setup in Catalunya’s capital. Just when it appeared as though the 20-year-old was set for a [move to Girona](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260712/1004205625/salida-brian-farinas-girona-inminente.html), Hansi Flick made it known that he intended to afford Fariñas a place in his pre-season setup.
From here, the Spaniard took full advantage of the opportunity, shining in both training and across Barca’s pre-season fixture list.
Fariñas, as a result, stayed put through the close of the transfer window last week. And as alluded to above, over the days ahead, his place in the long-term plans at the Spotify Camp Nou looks set to be confirmed.
As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:
‘Barça are engaged in advanced negotiations with Brian Fariñas to renew his contract for five years.’
