The Buccaneers could be without WR Jalen McMillan and RB Sean Tucker in their regular-season opener against the Bengals.
[Tampa Bay Buccaneers](/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers) wide receiver Jalen McMillan and running back Sean Tucker are both [doubtful](https://x.com/NFLSTROUD/status/2098454225734828087) for Sunday's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Todd Bowles revealed on Friday.
McMillan is recovering from a knee injury suffered in early August. He was able to participate on a limited basis during this week's practices, and Bowles said he did not experience a setback.
Tucker is dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during Tampa Bay's final preseason game. He did not practice Wednesday but returned to limited work over the following two days, with Bowles also confirming there was no setback.
The Buccaneers received a positive update on second-year wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. After missing several weeks because of a toe sprain suffered during joint practices with the New York Jets one month ago, Egbuka was a full participant this week and is “full-go,” according to Bowles.

Tampa Bay has several options at receiver if McMillan cannot play. Chris Godwin Jr. is entering his 10th season, while second-year receiver Tez Johnson recorded five touchdowns as a rookie. The group also includes Egbuka, rookie Ted Hurst III and Kameron Johnson. Hurst gained additional practice opportunities while McMillan and Egbuka were out and is expected to receive more work if McMillan is unavailable.
Tucker's potential absence would leave Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell as the only two active running backs unless the Buccaneers elevate Josh Williams from the practice squad. Williams spent time on the active roster last season, and Bowles made clear the team would be confident using him as their third running back against the Bengals.
Backup tackle Justin Skule, who is dealing with an oblique injury, is also doubtful after limited Friday participation. Inside linebacker Christian Rozeboom is questionable with a foot injury, while outside linebacker Rueben Bain Jr. practiced fully despite a shoulder issue.
Bowles enters his sixth season as Tampa Bay's head coach and has won all four of his previous season openers.
