Rob Elliot feels Micah Obiero will flourish at Carlisle United as the new signing prepares for his second Blues debut today.
Obiero, after joining from Wealdstone, is set to be in the squad to face Southend United (Brunton Park, 5.30pm).
The game will see 25-year-old Obiero back in a Carlisle shirt some six years after his last Blues outing during his earlier loan spell.
Elliot feels the forward is at the right stage to kick on with United.
“He’s the right the right character, the right person – and I've had some fantastic thoughts back on him from people that I trust, and previous managers,” said Elliot.
“He’s also someone that I think will get better and better with us.
“I’m really pleased he's here and I'm sure everyone will look forward to seeing him.
“It [signing Obiero] makes us stronger.”
Carlisle are today seeking a third win of the National League campaign as they bid to climb from their current position of 14th.
They go up against a high-flying Shrimpers side who have made a positive start under Kieron Dyer, with four wins and a draw in their opening six games.

Elliot, who will also have recent arrival Teddy Jenks available for a home debut, hopes Carlisle can take a positive step forward on home soil today.
And he hopes good short-term progress can feed into the bigger picture of what he is hoping to build at Brunton Park.
He said: “We need to back ourselves more, we need to be more aggressive, more assertive.
“We need people that are hungry and want to be here.
“That’s no reflection to anyone [who was here] before but the big thing for me when you play for a big club – and this is a massive club at this level and the levels above – is the expectation and what’s demanded to be here.
“You’ve got to be able to take that responsibility and go and perform.
“You've got to relish that opportunity because if you get it right here there's a lot of success that can be had.
“But it's about doing it here and now and making sure that we don't allow any moments to pass us by.”
Elliot will consider a recall to the XI for Regan Linney, with last season’s top scorer having been a substitute for the 2-1 defeat at Boreham Wood after illness.
United owner Tom Piatak is set to be at the game, the American businessman having arrived in Carlisle yesterday.
