Rio Ngumoha On The Left: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Liverpool Lineup vs Fulham
Seeking to make it three wins on the trot in all competitions, Liverpool welcome point-less Fulham to Anfield on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
The Reds secured their first win under new boss Andoni Iraola last week with a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Ipswich Town. They built on it by beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. The Merseysiders showed character to come back from a goal down to beat the Spanish club 2-1 at home.
A quick turnaround sees Andoni Iraola’s side lock horns with Fulham, who have tasted defeat in each of their three games under new boss Alvaro Arbeloa.
Liverpool Team News
Deadline day signing Bradley Barcola made his first Liverpool start in midweek but limped off just before the hour mark. However, Iraola allayed the injury fears by suggesting Barcola had cramps.
Cody Gakpo missed the Atletico Madrid win with a knock and is a major doubt for Fulham’s visit to Anfield. Joe Gomez has not featured this season with a muscle injury, but the defender is closing in on a return.
Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Fulham (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper
Alisson Becker is Liverpool’s undisputed No.1, and there is nothing to suggest he won’t start in goal against the Cottagers.
Defence
Summer signing on loan from Barcelona, Ronald Araujo has been making a name for himself at right-back. The Uruguayan is set to retain his spot in the Liverpool lineup, allowing the talented Jeremy Jacquet to continue partnering skipper Virgil van Dijk in central defence.
Milos Kerkez came off in the second half against Atletico Madrid, but it was due to cramps. So, the Hungarian is expected to continue at left-back in the Liverpool lineup, with Kostas Tsimikas, his understudy, starting on the bench once again.
Midfield
Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister will sit in front of the back four and try to dictate the terms of the game. Florian Wirtz will operate as a No.10, providing creativity to the side and making late runs in the box.
The Liverpool trio have the technical ability and experience to overpower Fulham’s midfield.
Ryan Gravenberch and Trey Nyoni will get opportunities to make an impact in the second half against the Cottagers.
Attack
Iraola is set to stick with Alexander Isak up top in the Liverpool lineup. The Swede, who has three goals in as many league games this season, will drop deep to link up play and release wingers Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha into spaces behind Fulham’s defence.
With their pace and dribbling, Munoz and Ngumoha could create a lot of problems for the visitors. Barcola will be limited to minutes off the bench.
