Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch is placing more responsibility on the shoulders of the team's young stars this upcoming season.
In an interview with Britt Robson of MinnPost, Finch revealed that the team purposefully has not added a bunch of veteran players to give more responsibility to Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and the rest of the young core, saying they will have to be the ones setting the tone from day one.
"We purposefully haven't added a bunch of veterans to the team this year. My approach with Ant or with Jaden or with all these guys is, if we're going to take the diapers off, let's take the diapers off," Finch said.
"Like, it's your team now. What you say and the way you say it, and setting the tone from the first days of practice; that stuff matters. And it's time. It is seven years in the league."
Timberwolves create one of the most intriguing young cores
The Timberwolves created one of the most entertaining and intriguing backcourt duos this season by bringing in LaMelo Ball in a trade this offseason.
The Timberwolves' core of Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert definitely looks capable of making a deep run in the playoffs.
Last season, Minnesota finished sixth in the Western Conference with a 49-33 record and went on to defeat the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
However, they fell to the San Antonio Spurs in a hard-fought, six-game second-round series.
