Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall believesEverton already have a starting XI capable of competing in Europe despite David Moyes being left with a smaller squad than he wanted.
The Toffees’ difficult end to the transfer window has prompted plenty of debate over whether Moyes has enough depth to sustain a challenge at the top end of the Premier League.
Dewsbury-Hall has no such doubts about the quality available when everyone is fit.
“Our starting XI is top, like it’s a European starting XI,” he told The Times.
“I get it, you need a whole squad, but we’ve got 17, 18 [outfield] players at a really, really good level. I don’t think a couple of years ago it was at that level. Actually, I know it wasn’t.”
Dewsbury-Hall is equally bullish about what Everton can achieve this season. Asked elsewhere whether Europe was possible, he replied: “For sure, definitely. Yeah, it is.”
The Times reports that the collective aims inside the club are cup success and European qualification, with Moyes refusing to allow the disappointment of Deadline Day to become an excuse.
“He has been energetic and on it with everything,” Dewsbury-Hall said of Moyes. “When you see your gaffer like that, as a player you go, ‘Wow! I can’t be moping around, I need to be standing up making things count.’”
Everton head into today’s game against Tottenham unbeaten after three Premier League matches, having taken five points.
