Frank Lampard believes Albion could present a tougher test than Manchester City as the his Coventry side seek to open their points account.
Coventry went down 1-0 at the Etithad last week after losing to Arsenal and Hull in the first two Premier League rounds.
The Sky Blues return to the CBS Arena on Sunday against Fabian Hurzeler’s side, who have picked up four points from three games.
Coventry boss Lampard said: “For me this could be as hard, if not harder, than Manchester City for different reasons. That’s not to belittle City, because we know what they are.
“We went to City with very little expectation on us and a clear plan to stop giving them spaces and give them problems when we did.
“We must have the same attitude against Brighton, nailing down what’s needed and doing it throughout.”
Coventry stormed to the Championship title last season but are bottom of the very early Premier League standings, while fellow new boys Hull and Ipswich have both tasted victory.

Lampard said: “We have to understand it’s a different level for us, but we have to be adaptable for certain games.
“We have to find the best way and get there quickly.”
Coventry can bring in young defender Stephen Mfuni for the first time after his arrival on loan from Manchester City as well as new signing Yann Gboho, a winger or attacking midfielder signed from Rennes.
Carl Rushworth, signed from Albion in the summer, is a certain starter in goal.
