Harvey Elliott has come in for more criticism from the Spanish media after Valencia's latest defeat, and the Liverpool loanee's new club still yet to pick up a win this season

It hasn’t been the best of starts to life at Valencia for Harvey Elliott, with the Liverpool loanee unable to escape the criticism leveled by the Spanish media after his latest outing.
Elliott joined the Valencia on a season-long loan during the summer, where he will be hoping for a much better year after enduring a nightmare campaign at Aston Villa. Although he already looks to be on course to play more minutes than he did at Villa Park, it’s hardly been a positive experience so far in the east of Spain.
The 23-year-old’s debut saw him come off the bench during a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona, with reviews of his and his teammate’s performances proving to be brutal.
Elliott was once again on the bench as Valencia took on Sevilla on Friday, and he was introduced just after the hour mark with the situation much more promising as the two teams remained deadlocked.
With just nine minutes to go though, Sevilla found a winner through Juan Iglesias, leaving Valencia to reflect on yet another defeat as it sits bottom of La Liga after five games, having taken just one point.
Head coach Carlos Corberan is bearing the brunt of the criticism following the latest defeat, with many outlets predicting that his firing could be just around the corner, but his players have also come in for heavy criticism - including Elliott.

Questions over the England U21 international’s fitness were raised following his debut last week, and it seems those doubts have not been quelled after the defeat to Sevilla.
Giving its verdict on Elliott’s latest performance, AS wrote: “He's not physically present, and it shows. He's barely made any crucial interventions, which is what he was brought in to do.”
Super Deporte was a little kinder to Elliott, although it still awarded him a measly four out of 10 in its player ratings, remarking: “Technically he's more than capable. Physically he needs time, what we don't know is how much.”
And Elliott got a less than complimentary mention in Las Provincias’ summary of the situation at Valencia.

“Sevilla, without being anything special, simply applied more drive and aggression to gradually gain the upper hand over the Valencianistas, while the bench remained blind to the need for a remedy,” its report read.
“And let no one think that [Cesar] Tárrega’s injury—yet another one—was the cause of the apparent physical and mental exhaustion on display. Even Elliott seems to be catching the bug. The players insist they are backing Corberán, but as he himself said: enough talk—actions are what matter.”
Elliott will hope things start to improve for him and his new team soon, with Valencia due to visit Alaves on Tuesday as it continues its search for a first win. Whether he’ll have a new manager in place by then remains to be seen, but the Liverpool loanee will need to win over his early critics in Spain.
