Timberwolves predicted to sign $277M NBA champion, 5-time All-Star to pair with Anthony Edwards image
The Minnesota Timberwolves have put the entire league on notice with all of the moves they have made this offseason, including acquiring LaMelo Ball in a trade and signing NBA champion Jonathan Kuminga. The only question that remains now is whether or not it is going to work out.
The Timberwolves have made the playoffs for years now, but they have not been able to make it past the Western Conference Finals. Franchise guy Anthony Edwards already believes this season is there for the taking.
“Y’all see what going on. This sht over, man. Wrap this sht up. This sh*t over this year, man,” Edwards said.
The thing is, even with all of these moves, they still have some roster spots left. One name to watch that could be coming back is Kevin Love.
“From what I understand, Kevin Love is open to coming back to Minnesota," said Jon Krawczynski on a recent episode of his Jon Krawczynski Show podcast. "I do think the Wolves have some interest in bringing him back as well. It would just be a phenomenal story if the Wolves did decide to fill that spot, and they did it with Kevin Love."
The likelihood of Love retiring after next season if this happens would be very high. Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus certainly believes that Love will be signed by Minnesota.
“The Minnesota Timberwolves have an open roster spot, though signing Love would trigger about $8.5 million in additional luxury-tax payments. The Wolves could stand at 14, but Love began his career with the franchise in 2008, developing into an MVP contender before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for their run starting in 2014. It would be a tremendous story for Love to finish where he started,” Pincus wrote.
Love brings value to any team with his leadership. His ability to play 15 minutes per game has been limited for some time now, but the body he brings in practice and the knowledge he has to lead is where his value is.
Love has made $277 million in his career. The former NBA champion wants to end his career on a high note. The Timberwolves have a legitimate chance to make the Finals. It would be the most perfect ending to a great career.
