The New York Giants play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to kick off their 2026 season. This new-look Giants team is one worth getting excited about.
However, one concern remains for the Giants before the season begins. Malik Nabers, while he's looked good in practice and seems like he could play, is still up in the air for Week 1.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Nabers is a "game-time decision" for their Sunday night game against the Cowboys. While he might suit up, there's still a chance that Nabers sits out Week 1 and prepares a bit longer to suit up for the Giants.

"Well, it's still up in the air. He looks awesome in practice; he's a full go. The Giants are prepared for him to play. But it's really up to him and how his body feels," Fowler said. "... So could be more of like a game-time decision."
The jury is still out on whether Nabers will play, though a lot of the indication has been that Nabers will be on the field in Week 1.
But until inactives are announced, there's going to be some uncertainty about whether Nabers will actually be playing in the first week of the NFL season.

The third-year wide receiver is coming off a serious injury last season that knocked him out for most of the year. He played in just four games, catching 18 of 35 targets for 271 yards and two touchdowns.
Those weren't terrible numbers, but what was so impressive is that he did it without Jaxson Dart. The 2026 season is going to be Nabers' and Dart's first chance to play together, but it might have to wait until Week 2.
While the signs have been pointing towards Nabers suiting up in Week 1, this game-time decision report from Fowler indicates that Nabers might not actually be active in Week 1 if he's not feeling 100% for the opening game of the season.
For now, it's more likely he plays than not. But Giants fans should be prepared to see Nabers ruled out, just in case he's not fully ready to come back just yet. It's a long season, and rushing him back might do more harm than good for the Giants.
