Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green revealed his honest thoughts on a potential NBA expansion. Ahead of Green and the Warriors' upcoming 2026-27 regular season, Green discussed the pros and cons of the league expanding.
Green gave his take on the NBA adding more teams in the near future, per The Draymond Green Show.
“I don't think talent dilution is necessarily a worry of the players. I think talent dilution is a worry of the league and ownership, front offices,” Green said. “It's not a worry of the players. I don't care how talented the next guy is on the next team. I don't give a damn. But from an ownership standpoint, that definitely always has to be a worry. We had 13 teams tanking last year. There were 13 teams able to tank, right? So, when you look at the talent pool, yeah, the talent pool is great—it's good.
“But, like, is it substantial to add two more teams? Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know. I think there are a lot of guys not in the NBA who think they should be in the NBA. I don't know. But that is definitely always a give-and-take when you're talking about expansion. You're plucking from teams; you're lessening the talent on said rosters.”
At the end of the day, Warriors' Draymond Green says the business behind a possible expansion will undoubtedly benefit the NBA.

“But ultimately, money talks, bull**** walks,” Green added. “Everyone is in favor of increasing the revenue pool. I think there are markets out there that are starving for teams. You look at the evaluation of these teams; who don't want two more of them? Ultimately, if it's talent dilution, I think that's going to be less value than the revenue pool. Just my opinion.”
NBA commissioner Adam Silver confirmed the league is in talks about a possible expansion.
