The Rams traded for Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. Garrett’s debut performance caught the attention of ESPN Cleveland analyst Tony Rizzo, who questioned how the reigning Defensive Player of the Year had prepared for the season and said:
“What did he do all offseason? Went to this thing, went to that thing, was in LA doing commercials, and you show up like that in Game 1 after the team gave up everything for you? Bad look, man. Bad look. Karma is a (expletive), isn’t it?”

Expectations were high for Garrett, as he had raised enormous expectations after producing a historic final season in Cleveland. The veteran defensive player earned the second Defensive Player of the Year award of his career.
When asked about his health condition, Myles said his knee had bugged him all summer and said:
“This was the worst version of myself that I’ve put out there. And I’ve got to be better. I’ve got to find a way to recover and get back to the player I know I can be and I’ve shown that I’ve been before.”
He also said:
“When I was out there, I was a little bit more focused on myself, trying to stay healthy, not what they were doing,” Garrett said. “That showed. I wasn’t what I needed to be for me and my team.”
The health condition of the veteran player has become critical for Los Angeles. The Rams need Garrett to get back on track, as their next matchup is against the New York Giants. The game is on, and the situation demands patience rather than panic after one game. Garrett’s track record remains elite, but his knee must improve before expectations return.
Garrett will now have an opportunity to answer Rizzo’s criticism when the Rams face the Giants. A strong comeback performance would help rebuild confidence in Los Angeles’ defense and prove that his disappointing debut was only a temporary setback.
