Liverpool played out a frustrating 0-0 with a plucky Fulham at Anfield, sucking away the feel-good factor of recent performances from Andoni Iraola’s men.

Alisson – 6 (out of 10)
A few nervy passes trying to delicately get out from the back almost saw Alisson come undone in calamitous fashion, leaving Ryan Gravenberch in no man’s land with a hospital pass, but he soon recovered and held strong.
Made a series of important saves and parries in the second half as the visitors got increasingly more confident with trying their luck.
Ronald Araujo – 6

Big Ronnie has got cult hero written all over him. That’s not to do the Uruguayan a disservice either, given he’s got some solid football ability about him.
Marauded up and down the right flank as nimble as a man half his stature, but didn’t look as composed as he has in recent weeks.
Replaced in favour of the pace of Jeremie Frimpong late on.
Jeremy Jacquet – 7 (Man of the Match)

This lad is making the exit of Ibrahima Konate easier by the week. It’s highly apparent now why Liverpool wouldn’t be held to ransom on a new deal with Konate, prior to his free exit.
Jacquet is everything that an elite athlete needs to be; strong, rapid, highly agile.
He sent roars through the Kop with a goal-line clearance in the first half and raced back moments later to make up 10 yards on Gonzalo Garcia through on goal, before lunging with the slide tackle and still winning a goal kick.
Immense, and will only get better.
Virgil van Dijk – 6
Seems to be really enjoying himself in this new-look defence now, even though there’s plenty of work still to be done and much more of a collective understanding required.
Began to lose patience as the game wore on and Liverpool couldn’t break Fulham down, while losing communication with his team-mates at times.
A handful of late long balls to Rio Ngumoha were disappointingly wayward.
Kostas Tsimikas – 5
Unexpectedly returned to the starting XI and faced a battle to get up to speed. Ran the line well in phases but was clearly off the pace.
Put in a few decent crosses from deep on the byline but was hooked at half-time for Milos Kerkez.
Ryan Gravenberch – 6

In theory, it was obvious why Gravenberch returned, given how compact Fulham set up through the middle. The trademark shoulder drops and drifting into space from the Dutchman were needed, and it helped destabilise the visitors.
Iraola only persisted with it for so long however, before deciding the physicality and tenacity of Alexis Mac Allister was required on the hour mark.
There is still a sense that a duo of Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai lacks the urgency required for Iraola’s style of play.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 6
Kept the ball turning over in midfield but had a tough time trying to slice holes into Fulham’s rigid setup.
Went close with a couple of shooting chances late on and looked like Liverpool’s best option at breaking the deadlock.
Florian Wirtz – 7
Wirtz was everywhere, constant running on and off the ball.

On the 20-minute mark he was the last man back to recoup the ball after a quick Fulham counter, and seconds later he was the most advanced Liverpool player on the left flank waiting to take the ball from Szoboszlai and make something happen out wide.
Was a little wasteful with his shooting opportunities in the early stages, but evidently trying very hard to get his name in the headlines for the right reasons.
A major cog for this Liverpool team despite the disappointing stalemate. He’ll undoubtedly click into this specific role he’s being asked to perform.
Victor Munoz – 6
Direct and dangerous, always looking to take on his man and get in behind after releasing the ball.
Fulham did well to nullify his energetic tendencies.
Bradley Barcola – 6

Faced more of a typical stiff test of Premier League football here and struggled for fluency.
Some nice touches and inventive runs, but was never in the thick of the action against a compact and rigid opponent.
A learning curve for sure. Replaced with 20 minutes remaining.
Alexander Isak – 5
The way Fulham set up effectively left Liverpool’s in-form striker shut out from the pack, isolated.
Starved of final-ball service Isak started to look a little rusty and stripped of the momentum he’s had in recent weeks.

Milos Kerkez (on for Tsimikas, 45′) – 6 – Immediately started making more runs after his introduction at half-time, clearly instructed by the manager that Liverpool needed to stretch the play more, to pull Fulham away from their rigid banks in the middle.
Cody Gakpo (on for Munoz, 60′) – 6 – Still a little short of match fitness but looked a presence straight away and required Fulham to double up on him at times.
Alexis Mac Allister (on for Gravenberch, 60′) – 7 – Measured and looked sharp after his arrival. Liverpool benefited from his presence in the middle of the park.
Jeremie Frimpong (on for Araujo, 72′) – 6 – Stretched play but couldn’t provide huge impact.
Rio Ngumoha (on for Barcola, 72′) – 5 – Ran beyond the last man but was often let down by passes over the top. Only so much the young lad can do in a cameo role.
Subs not used: Mamardashvili, Endo, Koumas, Nyoni

Shuffled the team well and freshened up his options on the flanks, but was ultimately unable to get a much-needed result.
Recognised the need for more direct penetration out wide, bringing Gakpo on as soon as the clock hit the hour mark, along with Mac Allister for a midfield anchor.
The decision to throw in Tsimikas from the off was a puzzling one.
Ultimately it felt like a game Liverpool should definitely have taken, particularly given the recent form. This performance will be one to dwell on for a few days at the very least.
