Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City at Stamford Bridge as Xabi Alonso’s side again paid the price for defensive mistakes.
Morgan Rogers gave Chelsea the perfect start after just seven minutes, finishing a move created by Joao Pedro.
However, Hull responded through Mohamed Belloumi, who scored twice in six first-half minutes to turn the game around.
Joao Pedro eventually rescued a point for Chelsea after the break, converting from Cole Palmer’s delivery in the 66th minute.
But there was no late winner.
Chelsea therefore drop two Premier League points at home against a Hull side who remain unbeaten following promotion.

Morgan Rogers gives Chelsea perfect start
Chelsea knew Hull would provide a far tougher test than their newly-promoted status might suggest.

Those clean sheets lasted only seven minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Joao Pedro helped release Rogers, who continued his remarkable start to life at Chelsea by finding the net.
It was another contribution from the £117million summer signing, who has now scored or assisted in each of Chelsea’s opening four Premier League fixtures.
Hull refused to collapse.
Ryan Giles supplied Belloumi for the equaliser before the Hull forward struck again shortly afterwards to put the visitors ahead.
It left Chelsea trailing despite having made such an encouraging start.
Joao Pedro rescues Chelsea point
Chelsea needed a response after half-time and eventually found one through Joao Pedro.
Palmer provided the delivery and the Brazilian produced the finish to make it 2-2 after 66 minutes.
It continued an excellent individual start to the season for a player who entered the fixture having just been named Premier League Player of the Month.
Chelsea pushed for a third goal but Hull held firm to protect their unbeaten league record.
For Alonso, the larger concern will again be what happened at the other end.

Chelsea managed to break that defence twice.
They simply could not keep Hull out themselves.
Chelsea clean-sheet problem reaches 20 games
Chelsea have now gone 20 consecutive league matches without keeping a clean sheet.
It is their longest such run since 1961.
That statistic becomes even more concerning given Chelsea’s attacking output.
Rogers, Palmer and Joao Pedro continue to produce goals and chances, but Alonso’s side are repeatedly being forced to outscore opponents.
Belloumi’s double ensured that approach cost Chelsea another two points on Saturday.
Hull leave Stamford Bridge with their unbeaten record intact.
Chelsea leave knowing that scoring twice at home still was not enough.
