Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham Hotspur were met by boos following their fourth winless Premier League match without a win this season. It's now over six hours of Premier League football without a goal for Spurs, who welcome Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next weekend.
Still looking for their first win of the Premier League season, Tottenham flew out of the blocks in the first half, and ought to have taken the lead via Jan Paul van Hecke, who missed the target from close range. However, despite the fast start, Tottenham failed to take advantage, and it was Everton who ended the half strongest. James Garner came closest for the Toffees, with the ex-Manchester United ace's free-kick saved by Antonin Kinsky.
That pattern continued into the second half, and this time Tottenham really were let off the hook. Firstly when Kinsky passed it straight to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who failed to take advantage, while former Spurs ace Brennan Johnson fired high and wide from a chance 12 yards out. Tottenham did rally towards the end, but didn't ever look like ending their wait for a Premier League goal.

Made a sharp save in the first half, but was almost the architect of his own downfall in the second, when he played the ball straight to an Everton attacker. Reminiscent of Atletico Madrid away from last season, but he was able to make amends with the save.
Not a right-back, but the young lad did his best. For all the money Tottenham spent on midfielders, surely it's time to give the 20-year-old a go in the middle of the park instead?
Defied physics with his first-half miss, but was once again pretty solid at the back alongside new centre-half partner, Micky van de Ven.
Has had to step up as the senior defender following Cristian Romero's departure and looked solid at the back alongside Van Hecke.
Offered plenty of industry on the left-hand side of defence, but lacked a touch of quality with his delivery at times.
Does De Zerbi actually know what he wants the Italian to do? Does the player actually know what De Zerbi wants him to do? It was another lacklustre and ultimately confusing performance from the £100million man. Was bypassed far too often in midfield.
Everywhere in the first half, but faded very quickly in the second. De Zerbi acted fast and removed the Uruguayan just when the game started to pass him by.
Was far too hesitant when played through on goal in the first half, with the midfielder taking an age to get a shot away. Looked every bit like a player who has just suffered back-to-back relegations.

Dropped into a deeper role for the first time in a Spurs shirt, but didn't really link up well with Dominic Solanke in attack. Had 20 minutes or so as the lone striker and somehow looked even worse.
Another textbook performance from the winger. Exciting at times, but utterly useless in the final third. The flicks and tricks are pointless if there isn't anything at the end of it. For such a talented footballer, he lacks actual substance, making the £85m price tag even more baffling as the weeks go by.
Didn't really do much. In fact, didn't do anything at all. That could be put down to a lack of match sharpness, but for the 60 minutes he was on the pitch, the Englishman was a passenger.
Has been a huge miss for Spurs during his absence. Very direct and promising, but didn't have the sharpness to match.
Came mightily close with a whipped effort from the edge of the box late on, but his strike was matched by Jordan Pickford, who had initially given the ball away.
Struggled up front and got an earful from De Zerbi at full-time.
Got the crowd off their seats when he was subbed on, but didn't really have the time to make an impact.
