Laim Delap has been praised following his latest goal for Nottingham Forest, with the former Chelsea striker sending a message after his exit from Stamford Bridge. Delap left the Blues during the summer transfer window to complete a £45million transfer to Forest, seeing his time with Chelsea come to an end after just 12 months.
The former Ipswich Town striker was on the score sheet on Saturday as he scored Forest’s opening goal in a 2-1 victory away at Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Delap opened the scoring for Forest, before Alysson equalised for the home side at Villa Park, with Igor Jesus scoring the winning goal just a few minutes before the final whistle.
Just a couple of weeks after leaving Chelsea, Delap has been praised by former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison, who believes the former Blues star has settled in well at Forest.
"Forest were dominant. Villa couldn’t handle Liam Delap – that’s the best I’ve seen him play for a long time,” Morrison said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday.
“He was powerful and scored a terrific goal. You wouldn’t have thought that was a centre forward who hadn’t scored in 29 matches.
"Forest suits him and the way that Oliver Glasner wants to play. He’ll get the best out of him."
Delap reflected on Forest’s win over Villa, which saw his first goal since leaving Chelsea, and why he is excited about the future at his new club.
“I’m buzzing. We showed last week that we can compete with anyone, but we didn’t get the points that we deserved. But today, with the performance we put in, the points were deserved,” Delap told Sky Sports.

“We showed in the first half we knew where to hurt them, but we didn’t quite execute it as we wanted to. But in the second half, we put all our strengths together.
“I still think there is more to come. We had more chances than them and it could have been a few more, but we’re really happy with the win. But for sure, there is more to come.
“We showed we have really good determination and belief in the group. We were definitely on top in the game and to get that finish is a really good feeling.
“We’ve shown over the last few weeks that we deserve it and thankfully today we got it.”
