Arizona State football blew opportunities all afternoon versus Texas A&M, committing inexcusable mistakes against an Aggies squad that scuffled on both sides of the ball for a good portion of the game. The Sun Devils could have held their own in College Station, but they instead head home with a 48-20 loss. Once fans recover from this sloppy performance, they will find that there are reasons to be optimistic. And they mostly come in the form of Reed Harris.
The 6-foot-4 wide receiver continues to thrive on Arizona State. He did his best to spur a comeback effort on the road, breaking free and scoring on a 58-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter. Although his efforts did not translate to the win-loss column, Harris made a compelling case to NFL scouts. The Athletic's Dane Brugler certainly thinks so.
Arizona State produced a 1st round WR this past April.

One week after totaling six catches for 137 yards and two TDs in a 70-7 trouncing of Morgan State, the Boston College transfer accumulated 189 yards and another two scores against the No. 10-ranked team in the country. He is exhibiting splendid chemistry with Kentucky transfer quarterback Cutter Boley, blossoming under head coach Kenny Dillingham and offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo.
It is one thing to annihilate an FCS secondary, but Reed Harris just flourished against a reputable SEC defense. He should garner abundant NFL Draft consideration moving forward. Arizona State football cannot waste another monster showing from this standout pass-catcher.
Hard conversations will be had this week, and changes will be necessary, but the Sun Devils must continue to emphasize Harris' talents. Kansas is up next.
