The Dallas Cowboys could have another blockbuster defensive move in their sights, with Maxx Crosby once again emerging as a potential trade target. Despite the Raiders’ plans to build around their star pass rusher, Jerry Jones’ latest comments have kept the door open for a stunning deal.

Dallas attempted to acquire Crosby in March. However, the Raiders ultimately agreed to send him to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks.
The blockbuster deal eventually fell apart during the medical evaluation because of concerns surrounding Crosby’s recovery from offseason meniscus surgery. As a result, the five-time Pro Bowler remained on the Raiders’ roster heading into the 2026 season.

The Raiders are prepared to begin the season with Crosby serving as the centerpiece of their defense, but questions surrounding his long-term future have continued to linger.
Recently, during an interview on 105.3 The FAN, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the possibility of making another move for Crosby and refused to completely rule out the idea.
“All year, I’ve been saying I am excited about the makeup of the team, I can say more so than in the years past in many years,” Jones said.
“That’s when it’s logical if doable take some of what you are going to use in the future years and put it into this year’s team. We’ve done that, to the fairly well really. But would I do it some more, and the answer is yes.”
Crosby is coming off his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection after finishing last season with 10 sacks, 73 total tackles and 45 solo tackles across 15 games. Jones has also made it clear since the beginning of training camp that the Cowboys are interested in making further improvements to their defense. Hence, adding Crosby would represent a major upgrade to Dallas’ pass rush and give the team another elite defensive presence.
Several analysts including Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox have identified the Cowboys as a potential trade destination for the Raiders star edge rusher.
“If another team comes calling about Crosby, the Raiders will undoubtedly listen. They’re in the early stages of a rebuild and may not be ready to contend while Crosby is still in his playing prime,” Knox wrote, before naming the Cowboys and New England Patriots as teams to watch for Crosby.
Analysts have pointed toward the NFL trade deadline as the most realistic window for a potential blockbuster deal. If Crosby proves that he is fully healthy during the early stages of the regular season and the rebuilding Raiders fall out of playoff contention, Dallas could once again emerge as one of the leading contenders to pursue a major trade for the star pass rusher.
