It was by no means a vintage Everton performance, but it was a professional one at a ground the Toffees have often struggled at.
Following the end to the transfer window, expectations and hopes about Everton's season were dashed.
In the eyes of many, and rightfully so, David Moyes' squad has been left incredibly light.
Ambitions of qualifying for Europe had been in the Blues' sights and perhaps that goal may still be there.
As Moyes is already beginning to make the most his thing squad amid a 20-year reveal.
The 20-year positive omen Everton now have for the 2026-2027 season
Everton have started the season well, and are becoming a team that are difficult to beat.
While they have only picked up one win so far, every point counts and Moyes will know that all too well.
In 2025-2026 Everton were just four points off qualifying for Europe, and if results had slightly changed, this season could have been much different.
However, this unbeaten run has given hope for Everton to qualify for Europe, with a 20-year omen emerging.
Back in 2006-2007, Moyes had also gone the opening five games for Everton unbeaten.

The L3 outfit would go on to finish sixth, which provided them with European football.
So, Moyes has been in this position before, and with more experience under his belt, there is certainly every chance he can repeat the trick.
Ultimately, Everton simply need to get to January in a strong position, where they will then be able to add more names to the squad.
If they can, the Blues will be in the mix for European football again.
How do Everton compare to the same fixtures from last season?
Interestingly, after the same five fixtures, Everton have exactly the same amount of points won.
From the 15 points on offer, the Blues picked up six points last season.
However, that run of games last season came with three losses and two wins, while this campaign, there have yet to be any losses.
Those wins came against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Despite the same tally of points, that is a significant positive, and the unbeaten run will only further push the Everton dressing room on.
Moyes has defied the odds often throughout his career, and the Scotsman may still have it in him to do it once again.
