David Moyes: ‘The players stuck at it’

David Moyes again hailed the defensive discipline of Everton against a ‘Big Six’ opponent.
Wondergoals from Tyrique George and Ainsley Maitland-Niles should not take away from the resilience displayed by the Toffees collectively in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United last week.
And they dug deep for the umpteenth time to hold onto a 0-0 draw with Tottenham in North London.
·‘We have had to fight for everything in the league’
Ideally, the team would have exhibited more quality to create more problems for a Spurs side that are searching for a stable identity in the vision associated with Roberto de Zerbi. But especially in light of the circumstances with a small squad, Moyes will not overlook the importance of the fundamentals.
"We were under the cosh from the first minute. But the players stuck at it. Tottenham were desperately looking for a win. As were we, but them being at home put us under the pressure.
“We coped brilliantly. I don't think the goalkeeper [ Jordan Pickford ] had many saves to make. We had to fill the box and reduce the spaces for them. Tottenham played well and made it difficult for us.
"We have been playing a lot better than we were today. We had chances to do better with the ball. It's not our best game with the ball today, that is for sure."
“With the boys at the back and the goalkeeper, there is real resilience to make sure we do not concede any goals. The goalkeeper has got a great record for clean sheets and he got one today as well. The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite , Vitaliy Mykolenko and James Tarkowski played really well today.

" Ainsley Maitland-Niles needs a mention as well. Really pleased with the fact that he has come in and done really well for us.
"What excites me is that I have a job to try and prove a few wrong. We have had to come from behind because we don't have all the tools to challenge the top teams. We have had to fight for everything in the league. We have shown we can do that too.
"I might have rather had £300-400m that Tottenham had to spend. But if you have not got that, you need to find a way to try and get a result, to win or take something from the games."
