Plenty of superstar quarterbacks garner massive contracts as some of the best players in the NFL. Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson may be on pace to make history with his next contract later down the line.
Jackson is starting the ninth year of his career with the Ravens. He dominates on the field as one of the best players in the league, often having Baltimore in serious playoff contention.
Jackson is secure under his current contract, ending after the 2027 season concludes. NFL insider Jeremy Fowler discussed Jackson's contract situation, bringing up the idea that a $70 million contract will be on the table for the superstar quarterback.
“This year, he's two years from free agency. He doesn't have a franchise tag flaw, so he can be a true free agent in 2028. He's got a cap hit of like $80 million next year, so he holds a ton of leverage. Which begs the question: Can he be the league's first $70 million a year quarterback? Seems crazy, but now you have Patrick Mahomes at $64 million,” Fowler said.
“You got all those star rookies. Some we've talked about: Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, all eligible for extensions next off-season. If C.J. Stroud bets on himself and has a big year and helps the Houston Texans make him move into the playoffs, he'll be in that mix as well. So you have some cash kings coming on the quarterback position. Lamar Jackson would probably be at the top of that list…So he's in a position to make a ton next year this year.”

What lies ahead for Lamar Jackson, Ravens this season
Lamar Jackson has a lot to prove this year, needing to lead the Ravens to the Super Bowl. Baltimore can succeed, but it requires Jackson to ball out.
The Ravens will look to improve upon their 8–9 record from 2025. They also intend to return to the playoffs after a one-year absence and reclaim the AFC North title.
Baltimore's regular season will get underway on the road. They take on the Indianapolis Colts as kickoff commences on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
