Hull City will be without Nobel Mendy next week when they take on Newcastle United at St James' Park.
Mendy started for the Tigers at Chelsea on Saturday, but his afternoon came to an abrupt halt when he took a nasty looking blow to the head in the second half.
In an attempt to get to the ball first, Joao Pedro seemed to clash heads with Mendy and the City man came off second best, hitting the deck next to Konstantinos Tzolakis' goal.
The goalkeeper and Mo Belloumi rushed to his side and showed immediate concern, beckoning over the club's medical staff, who after some time helped Mendy to his feet, around the outside of the pitch and down the tunnel.
"Not good," Jakirovic said when asked about the defender's condition. "We think he has concussion.
"He went to the hospital and after head scan we will know more."
The City boss went on confirm the defender would definitely miss next Saturday's trip to Tyneside, but with the international break to follow that could be the extent of his absence.
Lucas Herrington replaced the Senegal defender on the field in a concussion substitution, which allowed City to use six changes over the course of the game.
The Australian is likely to be the man to come into the side against Newcastle, slotting in on the left of a back three alongside John Egan and Semi Ajayi. The Tigers could go to the North East level on points with the Magpies if they beat Leeds United on Monday night.
