While it’s too early to judge Liverpool's summer transfer business, the fallout from their window is already having a major impact. The Reds were heavily tipped to add to their midfield, but resisted the urge and stuck with their current options.
One such player who was reportedly of interest was Monaco's Lamine Camara. Speculation ramped up that the player could be on his way to Liverpool next season after his switch to Chelsea fell through.
Harvey Elliott also left the Reds for a loan stint at Valencia, as he looks to resurrect his Anfield career. Today's latest updates see developments for both players, with potentially major consequences for Andoni Iraola and Liverpool.
Harvey Elliott facing new nightmare
Just two games into his loan spell at Valencia, Harvey Elliott could already be looking at a change of manager. Elliott joined the Spanish club on a season-long loan from Liverpool this summer, having endured a nightmare loan at Aston Villa last season.
The 23-year-old made his Valencia debut last week as he came off the bench against Barcelona in a 5-0 defeat. Valencia suffered another loss to Sevilla on Friday night, leaving them at the foot of the La Liga table without a win after five games.
Elliott was once again brought off the bench in the fixture but was unable to influence proceedings. Current Valencia boss Carlos Corberan is coming under immense pressure for his position. The former West Brom boss was appointed back in December 2024.
Reporting on the defeat to Sevilla, Spanish outlet AS wrote: "There's a chance that Carlos Corberán wrote the epitaph of his (first) stint as Valencia's coach in Nervion [Sevilla]."
With scrutiny growing on Corberan, the manager, quizzed on his future, cryptically said: "I've said that I always have the confidence and the strength, but sometimes answering that question after a defeat isn't the most appropriate thing to do."
It's a disastrous start for Elliott, who had hoped to get his career back on track after a difficult spell in the Midlands last season. Liverpool could be facing a scenario where the uncertainty at Valencia prohibits Elliott from impressing, leaving them to make another crucial decision on his future next summer.
Star drops transfer hint
Reported Liverpool target Camara has opened up on his failed move to Chelsea from Monaco on transfer deadline day. The Blues were left seething after a £47million deal to bring the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge collapsed.
It was subsequently reported by talkSPORT that Liverpool instructed the player 'to wait' and that a move to take him to Anfield next summer remained a possibility. Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro confirmed the star had requested to leave the club.
During a press conference on Friday, the midfielder said: "It was a somewhat turbulent and difficult time. But that’s part of a player’s life. I tried to remain professional, avoid dwelling on it, and move on so I could quickly focus on the upcoming match in Paris. Once it was over, there was no point thinking about it.
"Did I want to go to Chelsea? Saying that now would imply I’m no longer fully present with the team. Yes, there was a possibility I might leave, but it didn’t happen at the last minute.

"These things happen. Look at the example of Julian Alvarez with Atletico Madrid. It happens all over the world, and I’m trying to turn the page as quickly as possible to focus on the season."
On whether he will move to England in the near future, he added: "If it doesn’t come back around, it will be because I gave up or didn’t work hard enough.
"If I keep going like this, I know I can help the team perform well. Football moves fast, and perhaps other chances will arise. But for now, I’m staying focused on the season."
