Liverpool's summer transfer window may be over, but its consequences are already coming into sharp focus. The Reds chose not to bolster their midfield despite widespread expectation that they would, instead placing their trust in the players already at Andoni Iraola's disposal.
Among those who had been linked with a move to Anfield was Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. Interest in the player gathered pace after his proposed switch to Chelsea collapsed on deadline day, with speculation growing that Liverpool could now be his next destination.
Harvey Elliott also departed Anfield for a loan spell at Valencia, as he seeks to revive his Liverpool career. The latest developments involve both players, with potentially significant implications for Andoni Iraola and the club.

Camara transfer admission
Reported Liverpool target Camara has spoken out about his collapsed transfer to Chelsea from Monaco on transfer deadline day. The Blues were left furious after a £47million deal to bring the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge fell through.
It was subsequently claimed by talkSPORT that Liverpool instructed the player 'to wait' and that a move to bring him to Anfield next summer remained a possibility. Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro confirmed the star had submitted a request to depart the club.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the midfielder said: "It was a somewhat turbulent and difficult time. But that's part of a player's life. I tried to remain professional, avoid dwelling on it, and move on so I could quickly focus on the upcoming match in Paris. Once it was over, there was no point thinking about it.

"Did I want to go to Chelsea? Saying that now would imply I'm no longer fully present with the team. Yes, there was a possibility I might leave, but it didn't happen at the last minute.
"These things happen. Look at the example of Julian Alvarez with Atletico Madrid. It happens all over the world, and I'm trying to turn the page as quickly as possible to focus on the season."
On whether he will move to England in the near future, he added: "If it doesn't come back around, it will be because I gave up or didn't work hard enough.
"If I keep going like this, I know I can help the team perform well. Football moves fast, and perhaps other chances will arise. But for now, I'm staying focused on the season."
Elliott facing nightmare scenario
Just two matches into his loan stint at Valencia, Harvey Elliott could already be facing a managerial change. Elliott joined the Spanish outfit on a season-long loan from Liverpool this summer, following a torrid loan spell at Aston Villa last season.
The 23-year-old made his Valencia debut last week, coming off the bench in a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Barcelona. Valencia then suffered a further defeat to Sevilla on Friday evening, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the La Liga table without a single victory from their opening five fixtures.
Elliott was once more introduced from the substitutes' bench in the match but was powerless to alter the outcome. Current Valencia manager Carlos Corberan is facing mounting pressure regarding his position.

The former West Brom boss was appointed back in December 2024. Covering the loss to Sevilla, Spanish publication AS wrote: "There's a chance that Carlos Corberán wrote the epitaph of his (first) stint as Valencia's coach in Nervion [Sevilla]."
With scrutiny intensifying around Corberan, the manager, questioned about his future, cryptically said: "I've said that I always have the confidence and the strength, but sometimes answering that question after a defeat isn't the most appropriate thing to do."
It represents a catastrophic beginning for Elliott, who had been hoping to revitalise his career following a troublesome period in the Midlands last season. Liverpool could be confronting a situation where the instability at Valencia prevents Elliott from making his mark, leaving them to make another pivotal decision on his future next summer.
