**Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says the decision to recruit Danny Welbeck was an inspired piece of business by his former club.**
The Blues reportedly paid Brighton just £5m for the 35-year-old, and Hasselbaink believes that his experience and willingness to be a squad player make him a tremendous asset for manager Xabi Alonso:
“He’s going to add a lot, come on! He’s played for Arsenal and Manchester United, and did the business for Brighton. He knows he’s not going to be the number one at Chelsea, and he will settle for that.”
“But he can give so much to the other players on and off the pitch. He will be talking to the other players and helping that way, but also he wants to score, and he will want to be on the end of things. It’s a great signing for Chelsea.”
Welbeck has already proven his worth

Chelsea are deadly going forward

There is no doubt that Alonso has found a deadly front three in Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, but with the likes of Welbeck, Alonso does have other players waiting in the wings to come into the team who can do a job for him.
Fans will also be hoping he can get more out of the likes of Estevao and Jamie Gittens, who flattered to deceive when they were given a run out against Leeds on Wednesday.
Even so, it doesn’t appear Alonso has much to worry about in forward areas. The main cause of concern continues to be the backline.
