Moyes singles out four Everton players after Tottenham clean sheet

**David Moyes singled out four Everton players for praise after the Toffees dug in for a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at Tottenham.**

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/) were under heavy pressure in the opening stages in north London but gradually worked their way into the game and had chances to win it.

Spurs had 62 per cent of the possession and 14 attempts, but only two were on target as Moyes’ side protected Jordan Pickford impressively.

“With the boys at the back and the goalkeeper, there is real resilience to make sure we do not concede any goals,” said Moyes.

“The goalkeeper has got a great record for clean sheets and he got one today as well. The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitaliy Mykolenko and James Tarkowski played really well today.”

There was another name Moyes was keen to add. “Ainsley Maitland-Niles needs a mention as well. Really pleased with the fact that he has come in and done really well for us.”

Maitland-Niles has made a positive start since his late arrival from Lyon, while Branthwaite again impressed alongside Tarkowski at the heart of the defence.

Pickford’s clean sheet was significant too. It was the 100th of his Premier League career, making him only the fifth English goalkeeper to reach that landmark.

Moyes admitted Everton were not at their best with the ball, but there was little to complain about defensively. Tottenham accumulated just 0.64 expected goals despite having most of the possession. After conceding twice against Manchester United, a first clean sheet of the league season was very welcome.
