Merely two matches into his loan spell at Valencia, Harvey Elliott could already be confronting a managerial change. Elliott joined the Spanish outfit on a season-long loan from Liverpool this summer, having suffered a torrid loan experience at Aston Villa last campaign, reports the Mirror.
The 23-year-old made his Valencia bow last week, coming off the bench during a 5-0 thrashing by Barcelona. Valencia endured another defeat against Sevilla on Friday evening, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the La Liga standings without a victory after five fixtures.
Elliott was once again introduced from the bench but failed to make any meaningful impact on the game. Meanwhile, current Valencia manager Carlos Corberan finds himself under mounting pressure over his future at the club.
The former West Brom boss was appointed back in December 2024.
Spanish publication AS, reporting on the defeat to Sevilla, wrote: "There's a chance that Carlos Corberán wrote the epitaph of his (first) stint as Valencia's coach in Nervion [Sevilla]."
With the spotlight firmly on Corberan, the under-fire boss gave a cryptic response when quizzed about his position, saying: "I've said that I always have the confidence and the strength, but sometimes answering that question after a defeat isn't the most appropriate thing to do."
It's an inauspicious beginning for Elliott, who had hoped to reignite his career after a difficult stint in the Midlands last season. Liverpool now face the prospect of Valencia's instability hampering Elliott's chances of proving his worth, potentially forcing the Merseyside club into yet another pivotal call on his future next summer.
