Jeremy Jacquet once again showed us why he is not just a defender for the future, but is already a superb addition to Liverpool’s squad.
There were very few positives to glean from Liverpool’s 0-0 with Fulham, as the Reds drew their fourth consecutive league game at Anfield.
On a slightly brighter note, the Reds remain unbeaten this season and this marked a second Premier League clean sheet in a row, a feat they haven’t managed since February.
Key to the shutout was Jacquet, who has started all five of Liverpool’s matches since signing from Rennes for an initial £55 million.

Against Fulham, the Frenchman won more duels than anyone else for the Reds, succeeding in eight, including all five of his aerial duels.
Next to Virgil van Dijk, Jacquet also showed his speed of recovery, reaching 34.6km/h, a quicker pace than anyone else in a red shirt.
It wasn’t just in a defensive capacity, though, that the 21-year-old impressed. He also did more for the attackers than the midfield duo of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Showing composure on the ball we didn’t enjoy when watching Ibrahima Konate, Jacquet has brought an assuredness to the defence.
And while there is still the odd occasion on which he makes the wrong pass, the numbers speak for themselves with regard to Jacquet’s influence on the side against Fulham.
The centre-half played the most line-breaking passes (16) and the joint-most passes into the final third (13), per FotMob.
He also made the most accurate passes (75) and had the most touches (96) of any Liverpool player.
Whether Jacquet should actually be the player making these passes is up for debate.
In a fully functioning team, a ball-playing centre-back should really be an additional route to goal, not the team’s main creative outlet.
Andoni Iraola is rightly recognising Jacquet’s talent and told TNT Sports ahead of the season: “We will put the level there for him (gestures up high).
“This is your level and this is what we expect from every game.
“I’m very happy for him and now we wish he can continue and he can grow. We know he will make mistakes.
“He is very young, new in the Premier League. We have to accept this, but we trust him.”
