NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Saints possess a big-ticket quarterback, running back, and wide receiver when they open at the Lions today.
Yes, Tyler Shough, Travis Etienne, and Chris Olave could form the Saints own version of the triplets, but New Orleans will need so much more to win not only against Detroit but also the NFC South.
Even with the signing of David Edwards at left guard, the rest of the unit lacks depth after the starting five.
On defense, the Saints defensive line is primed to wreak havoc on Jared Goff all day with Chase Young and Carl Granderson leading the charge.
It’s the linebackers and secondary that could be extremely busy at Ford Field. Wide receivers Jamison Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown, and tight end Sam LaPorta form a scary trio for the Lions. Plus, Jahmyr Gibbs can hurt you on the run and catching passes out of the backfield.
The defense will be without Cam Jordan (hamstring). Things are trending in the right direction to have Alvin Kamara in the offense come 12 p.m.
The Saints enter the contest today as a 7-point underdog. New Orleans is behind Tampa Bay in the betting odds to win the NFC South.
