Elliot Anderson has revealed that Manchester City were his second team as a child.
Newcastle United supporters have always maintained that the Whitley Bay native was one of their own. He joined the Magpies as an eight-year-old and is arguably the most talented academy product on Tyneside for a generation.
However, doubts emerged when Anderson posted a photo of himself as a kid wearing a Man City shirt last month. The 23-year-old has now opened up about supporting two teams - which will likely not go down well with Newcastle fans.

“Obviously, I’m a Newcastle fan deep down but you’ve always got a second team and for me, that was Manchester City,” he said. “I think I was about 7 or 8 years old, and I just started following the club and really enjoyed it. My grandad bought me a Manchester City shirt, so I’ve just loved supporting them since then.”

Anderson also opened up about striking a strong relationship with City superstar Erling Haaland. He added: “He's been brilliant with me. He's a really top guy. We have a responsibility to provide chances for him. And my first thought at the minute when I receive the ball is, where’s Erling?
“And I think that's the best thought to have in your mind. Obviously, he's a really dangerous goal scorer and if we can we can provide him with some good passes and some good chances then he'll be really happy.”
