Liverpool U18s produced an excellent 4-2 win over Burnley, and their coach gave an update on young Finn Inglethorpe’s fitness after the match.

Liverpool won their second consecutive game 4-2, as they produced an excellent second-half performance in Kirkby on Saturday.
With Inglethorpe forced to watch from the sidelines, Zak Coxon started his first under-18s match and led the line well as Liverpool surrendered a 2-0 lead, only to bury the game in the second half.

Coach Simon Wiles explained the absence of their usual No. 9, Inglethorpe, to This Is Anfield: “He’s just got a little niggle that we’re just managing.
“Hopefully he won’t be too far away, then he can obviously get back in competing for the No. 9 jersey, which is fantastic.”
A first half… of two halves
Like Coxon, Joseph Dixon was starting his first game for the under-18s, and before the opposition even had chance to get settled, the defender had put the Reds ahead with a great finish following Erik Farkas’ outswinging corner.
Before 20 minutes had been played, the Reds scored again, this time thanks to a first-time finish from Charlie Huth, who finished off a great counter-attack and cross from AJ Yeguo.

The team’s defensive flaws were exposed, though, as the half went on, as Blayz Borgesson scored before Warren Taylor equalised just before the break.
Half time: Liverpool U18s 2-2 Burnley U18s
Liverpool regained control after half time and were rewarded when Yeguo struck superbly into the top corner from 25 yards out, a goal that made the dugout stand up and applaud.
Liverpool then got their fourth with 15 minutes to play, moments after Luca Eden replaced Ellis Hickman in midfield.
The final goal came as a result of a quick one-two between Farkas and Coxon, which the former fired high into the net.
Haydn Murray-Holme shows why he got his contract

He didn’t get on the scoresheet, but Haydn Murray-Holme, who has recently signed his first professional contract, was arguably the standout.
A technically excellent midfielder, he was the tempo dictator and the key man in Liverpool’s side.
Coach Wiles said of the 17-year-old: “He’s someone, Haydn, that we know has got the technical capabilities and he’s got his passing distribution, which is an asset of his.
“So for us, for him, it’s just understanding when and where to keep moving the ball and the timing of the game, where there might be a little bit of a momentum swing, where we might need to just get a little bit more control.
“I thought he dictated a lot of the play today. I thought he had a really positive performance.”
With seven points on the board from four matches, the under-18s’ next fixture is a trip to Derby on Saturday.
