Carter entered the NBA as the 13th overall selection in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Sacramento Kings sent him to Atlanta in June in exchange for a future second-round pick, but the Hawks subsequently waived him. During his most recent season with the Kings, Carter averaged career-best of 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 38 games. He shot 41 percent from the field.
Injuries, however, have affected Carter's early career. He has appeared in only 74 games since entering the league, adding availability concerns to the uncertainty surrounding his development. Still, his potential as a former lottery pick could make him an appealing low-risk opportunity for Miami.
